CZERNYS FINE ARMS AND ARMOUR SEPT 16TH


blog image Among the many fine pairs of civilian pistols offered in Czerny's september sale is this desireable set of cased saw-handle duelers by Evans of Cambridge pictured onthe catalog cover. Other fine pistols offered include an over and under by Staudenmeyer with rare catalan style grip, a Ripol pistol, a cased pair by LePage, a Dumonthier knife pistol and a rare and early Dutch wender pistol by Jan Flock C. 1660.

Swords in the sale include European civilan and military examples, among them medieval examples, broadswords, several fine chisled rapiers and a selction of smallswords and miltary sabers. A Hungarian magnates sword is among the more luxurious examples offered, as is the superb vermeil hilted french smallsword with original scabbard and finely chiseled mounts. 

Other lots include European, Tibetan and Korean armour, wheelock and miquelet longarms, shotguns by Wilkinson and Holland & Holland among other vintage examples as well as a range of ethnographic arms from around the world. Click on the image for a link to the sale. 



MORPHY AUCTIONS, PREMIERE KNIVES SEPT 22nd

ROCK ISLAND, PREMIERE AUCTION, SEPT 8TH

Rock island premiere fall sale includes several prominent collections, among them those of Rbert M. Lee, Vernon Bering and the Putnam Green/Scyamore collection. Winchesters are well represednedt in the sale and one of the more desireable examples pictured above is the engraved model 1895 presented by Buffalo Bill Cody to Ny state Senator Fred Kavanaugh. There are 400 Winchesters in the sale. Classic Colts include a cased set of 1851 engraved sqaurebacks. 

European Guns include a pair of dueling pistols by Boutet, a fine Gastine Rennet hunting rifle, and ivory stocked Dutch Wender Pistols. Among the non-firearm lots in the sale is a D-Day flag from Gold beach.

EARLY ARMS AND ARMOUR, BRUCE GAMAGE, JULY 17TH

One of several fine lots from the collection of Bob Sping being sold by Gamage Antiques.

 The collection includes 16th, 17th, and 18th century arms, swords, halberds, knives, daggers, pole arms, helmets and many related lots. They will be will offered without reserve.

Among the rarer lots is a "Mary Rose" style Enligh sword and the pictured rapier as well as fine Islamic arms and elements of armour.



MILESTONE AUCTION, MAJOR MILITARIA AUCTION, JUNE 24th

Milestone auction in Ohio are holding a sale of rare collectibles among them some very scarce lots such as the Nepalese Birra Hand crank gun pictured. The sale includes desirable lots from a wide range of historical contexts among them a New York City French and Indian war period Wilson musket and a very rare Jordan first model brown ness musket marked to the 10t regiment, one of several bess’s in the sale.

A good section of Japanese swords will cross the block, some with papers and dating to the early 1300’s. WW II collectibles includes a German Paratrooper helmet with original camo, German uniforms, US Military Colt Model 1911’s with holsters and a Russian display machine gun

San Giorgio’s next sale includes a range of moderately estimated lots. Among the guns offered are a revolving carbines, several pairs of pistols including and English pair with drop down triggers and captive ramrods, a cased Belgian revolver with ring trigger,  Several pinafores are also in the catalog.

Among the flintlocks are an English pair of brass barreled pocket pistols, a very decorative Ottoman example, and a blunderbuss pistol with flick bayonet, a cased Belgian pair and several French military example.

ROCK ISLAND REGIONAL FIREARMS AUCTION, JUNE 25TH

A selection of Henry rifles are the leading lots in Rock Island’s June sale. Pictured is a volunteer veteran example of the December 1863 contract which are the only Henry rifles that bear a full set of Ordnance inspection marks. These rifles were initially issued to the 1st D.C. Cavalry and subsequently were used by the 1st Maine Cavalry, it is estimated at $18,000-$27,500.

Other fine guns in this four day sale include a section of good early Winchesters, a rare Springfield Model 1903 Rod Bayonet Rifle, fine shotguns, among them a Fox AH and a Beretta Pietro - Dt 10 Trident. The pistols offered include a DWM Model 1893 Borchardt with Stock, a Cased Colt Third Model Dragoon Revolver with accessories, and a very unusual Louis Marquis Pattern "Nazi Style Belt Gun", in four Shot 22 Long Rifle.

Military Guns in the sale include a U.S. Springfield M1C Garand Sniper with Lyman Scope, a  Krieghoff "S" (1935) Code Luftwaffe Luger Pistol with Holster, a Johnson Automatics/Cranston Arms Model 1941, Rifle and a Harpers Ferry Model 1855 Two Band Percussion Rifle with Bayonet. The sale includes collectible arms in a wide variety of price ranges.

SAN GIORGIO ASTE, ANTIQUE ARMS AND MILITARIA, JUNE 9TH

On the cover of San Giorgio Aste’s catalog for next sale is an attractive 17th C. northern European baskethilt rapier.  Related swords in the sale include a German two handed processional sword, a clam shell rapier and a north Italian knightly sword circa 1200.
 
Also offered in this sale are several pairs of good early flintlock pistols, among them an Austrian horseman’s pair C 1720, a pair of scarce French gendarmerie pistols circa 17980, a pair of officers pistols from the Kingdom of Sardinia circa 1800, and a pair of French naval blunderbuss pistols.  A French pistol by LaMarre circa 1890 carries the highest estimate at 23,000-25000 euros.
 
A selection or rare powder horns and flask offered include carved bone examples dating to the 17th C and an Italian example C. 1600.  Also offered in this sale is a good section of Japanese Kabuto helmets, several fine Swiss target rifles and a fine inlaid Wheelock Tschinke

CZERNY'S FINE & SCARCE ANTIQUE ARMS & ARMOUR, JUNE 10TH

Czerny’s June sale includes many historically and visually iconic lots such as the German late 15th century Sallet pictured. Carrying the highest estimate in the sale (70,000 Euro)is a Japanese kabuto armor with a hachi of 32 iron plates. There are many other very fine Japanese lots in the sale. Early European firearms lots in the sale include a fabulous Viennese flintlock pistol by Felix Meyer, a Greek silver clad flintlock long gun, a luxurious cased Italian bu by Bognili with unusual percussion mechanism and an early 17th century French matchlock carbine engraved “ Magazin Royal”.

Indo-Persian lots include a rock crystal hilted khanjar dagger, a sumptuous matchlock torador and a thega sword engraved chiseled and inlaid in gold with the name of the Durga goddess in her reincarnations as a well as a good pata gauntlet sword with inlaid silver decoration.

European and and Russian swords in the sale include several fine shashqua, a German rapier circa 1600, an Italian rapier and parrying dagger pair and an 1828 Russian sword with the order of St Anna award. Click on an image for a link to the sale.

The cover of San Giorgio Aste’s next sale pictures a fine Japanese Kabuto helmet, one of several in the sale, along with Japanese several Katana, Wakizashi and Daisho.  Also offered in the sale is a fine maine gauche dagger from Naples C 1650 with gilt embellishments. Guns in the sale include an exceptional pair of Austrian pistols by C 1720, a fine pair of Bavarian flintlock cavalry pistols and a Dragoon pistol from the Kingdom of Sardinia C 1726.  A French pistol by LePage had mounts in the ottomans style, likely a presentation piece.
 
The sale also includes an Indo-Persian Khula Khud and rare  camail helmet as well as several American revolvers, sporting guns, hunting sword and a large selection of ethnographic and civilian daggers and plug bayonets.
